What is OutPersonals?
OutPersonals is a gay dating site that really reminds me of personal ads of old. For those young fuckers reading this, newspapers used to have sections where you could post an ad about yourself and see who took the bait. They were for desperate and horny motherfuckers, and I used them a lot! They were basically just like Tinder, but in paper form. Anyway, OutPersonals is very much a throwback to this type of dating. There were also a fuck load of these dating sites online a few years ago, but they have slowly been dying off or reverting to apps. OutPersonals seems like it could be one of the last of these prehistoric dating sites.
So, is OutPersonals a great throwback to this style of dating, does this style of dating still work and can OutPersonals get a high score from me. Well, we ain’t gonna find out any of that shit hanging around in this section of the review, are we? So, let’s get to reviewing this motherfucker and see what the fuck OutPersonals is all about.
The design of OutPersonals
The design of OutPersonals really reminds me of an old Facebook or Myspace design. It has a very simple design that is a massive throwback to dating sites like these from the past. I ain’t sure that I like this design, though. OutPersonals looks basic, to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, this basic design does mean that OutPersonals works really quickly and is pretty responsive, but it just doesn’t feel too nice to use.
I do like a lot of the features on OutPersonals, though. When you create an account on this gay dating site, they ask you a fuck load of questions about yourself. They use your sexy little answers to these questions to find men that are compatible with you. I do like this; it makes OutPersonals feel like it is more geared towards finding a long term partner, rather than a quick fuck. However, all of these nice features (there are plenty more than just a compatibility score, I just can’t be assed to discuss them) are still crammed into a very basic and old design that I don’t like.
Why is it so quiet on OutPersonals?
Something to remember throughout this dating site review is that OutPersonals is going up against the likes of Grindr. Now, there ain’t many gay dating sites that can compete with Grindr and OutPersonals certainly isn’t much competition at all! Why is this? Well, it is really quiet on OutPersonals. In total, there are 377,169 members on OutPersonals. This sounds great, but Grindr has 27 million. There are currently 395 gay guys online on OutPersonals and on average, 3.6 million gay men use Grindr daily. I don’t know the daily averages for OutPersonals, but I can guess that it ain’t really that close to 3.6 mil.
OutPersonals is a very quiet site, even with just 400,000 members, I would expect this gay dating site to be busier than this. However, I think there is a good reason why OutPersonals is pretty quiet. Most of the gay men that have signed up to OutPersonals realised that it is quiet, or don’t really like what OutPersonals is offering and so they don’t use it any more. The biggest problem for OutPersonals is that Grindr has an app, and they don’t. This means that people join OutPersonals but realise that it can’t offer what Grindr can and then never use it again. This could be the reason why there are nearly 400,000 members on OutPersonals, and yet no cunt is online. It is a shame that there aren’t many gay people using this dating site, but from the figures, we know where they are, and we know where the best place to find some gay men are, don’t we dear reader? In San Fran, of course!
Weird ads on OutPersonals
This is just a naughty little thing I want to discuss about OutPersonals. The ads on OutPersonals are well odd. The only ads I have seen on OutPersonals have been ads about cam girls. I don’t know why a dating site can’t get the clearance for normal ads on their site, and I have no idea why OutPersonals (a GAY dating site) has ads for cam girls on it. Very strange and worth a mention, I thought!
OutPersonals vs Grindr
Well, I don’t think any cunt from Grindr is reading this review and shaking in their fucking boots! I think that Grindr will be just fine with OutPersonals as their competition. OutPersonals simply doesn’t offer the same shit as Grindr, so there is an argument that OutPersonals is a completely different style of dating site. However, I think the only reason OutPersonals is different is that it’s stuck in the past. I could be totally wrong, and OutPersonals may be trying to target different types of gay folk than Grindr. However, from my understanding, Grindr targets everyone and creates a safe environment to find love and a quick fuck, so I ain’t got a clue who OutPersonals is targeting, perhaps gay men who love really old looking websites? Grindr certainly ain’t shitting themselves over this competition just yet, though.
The Geek’s final thoughts on OutPersonals
Well, as much as I’d like to say that OutPersonals is a good gay dating site, I just can’t. OutPersonals does have an impressive amount of members, but I’ve been on OutPersonals twice while conducting this review, and there has only been 500 and 400 men online during my sessions. For a dating site that has nearly 400,000 members, that is fucking low. So, either I am coming on OutPersonals at the wrong time, or no one is using it, which I think is probably the case. I think people join OutPersonals and then quickly move over to Grindr because that’s where the action is.
- Lots of members
- Basic design
- Not a lot of activity
