Pixel artwork, or pixel games, are pretty popular these days – people like that aesthetic, and while it’s not exactly my cup of tea, I understand what the appeal is. Anyway: today I’m going to be exploring a spot called PixelPornGames, which is looking to cash in on this demand for retro goodness by giving you access to all-out hardcore content, with an interactive twist, that carries the pixel artwork aesthetic. First thoughts on PPG

The site design here is pretty cool: I was also happy to see that you can sign up and log in completely free of charge. This portal is a totally free to play system – no need to hand over cash, and it will offer you no advantage in any of the games, nor will they gate anything behind that type of nonsense which we see in other cash grab releases. PixelPornGames is pretty cool when it comes to giving you access to the material too: all you need is a browser, and after checking compatibility with Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera, I do believe it’s fair to say that all of this is absolutely fine in the context of what 99% of you readers out there are going to be utilizing.

Artwork: a closer look

I’m not an expert when it comes to this genre of artwork, but I do think they’ve done a terrific job with getting their titles to look fantastic. Naturally, because there’s a lot of time, effort and energy that goes into each release, they have a small collection overall: just 9 games. Having said that, I tried 4 of them and can certainly see someone getting dozens of hours of fun out of this project. They’ve also got varying difficulties and achievements set up, so that if you really want to challenge yourself and retry all of the content, you can do so with a fresh look and a bunch of different things to attempt to do. I think that’s awesome, don’t you?

My closing thoughts on PPG

I really have had a fantastic time looking around PixelPornGames for the last few hours and I’m happy to tell you straight up that this is a spot you need to check out if you’re into the artwork style they’re going for. It’s niche, but it’s executed well, and I wish the team at PPG all the best in future.
