Mr. Porn Geek visits Rec Tube

Okay gang, it’s the Internet’s favorite adult reviewer and I’m coming to you today with a fresh website I actually haven’t checked out personally – I just got a tip-off from a visitor to Mr. Porn Geek and figured it was worth taking a look at what was going on here. The platform in question goes by the name of Rec Tube and from what I can tell, it’s devoted exclusively to videos of webcam performers doing the dirty in front of their computers. Seems like a pretty simple idea that you can’t fail with, but what’s the reality of the situation over at Rec-Tube.com? Does this deliver what it sets out to do, or fall short of all expectations? Rec Tube: first contact

Everyone ought to know by now that when it comes to reviewing websites, my main focus is on looking at the homepage and the experience it provides. I will just say that the first thing I immediately noticed with regard to Rec-Tube.com is the fact that it can take quite a while for pages to load. I’m not talking minutes here, but the homepage was a good 5-10 seconds of waiting – I get bored when the content I want isn’t instantly accessible! Anyhow, with regard to the structure and design of the homepage, it’s obvious to me that they’re very much committed to the whole webcam video thing: I was blown away at just how many videos they had preview panes for. These panes consist of the performer’s name, view count, duration and of course, a random image taken from the clip so you know what to expect.

If you scroll down to the bottom of Rec-Tube.com, you’ll find that they’ve got over 120,000 archive pages of videos, which given the fact that each one has 16 videos means that the total content archive here is fast approaching 2 million individual scenes. I don’t know about you, but that’s absolutely insane in my book – how’d they manage to get so much fucking webcam content!? This just makes my desire to try the content that they’ve got here even more intense, but I do have to do some other things first, so let’s get a shift on and see what else Rec Tube has to offer us when it comes to navigation and content access.

Rec Tube’s sorting tools

If we stick on the homepage, you’ll notice that at the very top of the site, you’re able to sort content based on a number of different metrics, including popularity, upload date, number of views and scene duration. I figured that sorting by popularity was the best choice here, but using this function literally resulted in nothing displaying. I don’t know if this is just a temporary issue or something more long-term – if it’s the latter, just remove the link entirely so people don’t waste time trying to find the top-rated smut you have in your collection. I also tried sorting by all of the other links and yeah – sucks that none of them were actually working when I dropped by. Maybe I’ll come back in a few weeks or so to see whether or not this situation is a permanent thing: I sure hope it isn’t, because Rec Tube was shaping up to be quite the spot.

Searching for desired content on Rec Tube

One issue that I can see affecting a large number of people here is the fact that videos don’t come with a unique title or tags of any type – this makes finding your niche of choice just that little bit harder. You can conduct a search for keywords like Asian and sure – plenty of the videos you’ll get will be on-niche, but that’s only because some of the Oriental babes on these webcam sites have ‘Asian’ in their username: if it wasn’t for that, they wouldn’t display. Conducting another search for the keyword oil resulted in just 300 videos: I guarantee you that there are tens of thousands of videos in this archive that feature oil, but it’s just impossible to find them via these methods.

Perhaps the best way to find content that you want is going via the performer’s name. Let’s take YourKat for example – she’s a streamer over on Chaturbate and if you look for her name on the Rec Tube library, you’ll get 28 pages worth of smut: that’s so much content that you’ll struggle to watch even a small portion of it! Rec Tube certainly seems to favor the guys out there who have a list of girls they enjoy watching: it just makes honing in on the content you desire that much easier.

The viewing experience at Rec Tube

So when you click on a video, you’ll be taken through to its streaming area – all of which is managed on-site. The clip began almost immediately and buffering was an absolute walk in the park. Note that you can’t actually download these clips and they do have a limit for the amount of time you can watch before paying for full access to the website – didn’t see that mentioned anywhere until I was mid-way through jerking off. I was able to inspect element via Chrome and download the scenes to my computer though: might be a good workaround for the guys out there that don’t want to have to pay in order to access stolen content.

My final thoughts on Rec Tube

Everything here was going so great until I realised that Rec Tube has a pay to play system in place: you only get to enjoy a small amount of streaming goodness before you’re prompted to hand over your credit card in order to get unlimited access to the full archive. I guess with 2 million scenes it’s more than worth it, but I’m not going to pretend that I can support this type of thing for my visitors when they were all expecting free webcam show recaps. Mixed feelings about this one – so yeah, up to you whether or not you want to be a patron of Rec-Tube.com.
