Mr. Porn Geek reviews the TBLOP competition

I’ve always been of the opinion that no matter what industry you’re in, it’s always a wise idea to check out the competition as much as you can to see what they’re up to. Mr. Porn Geek isn’t afraid at looking over other destinations, simply because when it comes to good porn website reviews, I’m willing to take suggestions on how to improve my platform. That’s why today I’m going to a spot that’s a little bit different than the rest – it’s a destination that basically functions the same as Mr. Porn Geek’s own website. That’s right: it’s time for me to talk about The Big List of Porn (TBLOP for short) and what you can expect to find over on this website. I’m keen to see how this place is doing, so let’s jump right in for the full review.

First impressions of The Big List of Porn

So when you hit the homepage of this website, you’ll see something that’s quite similar to what you might have seen somewhere else before. See, TBLOP is basically the exact same thing as Mr. Porn Geek’s own review platform – this is a place where the owner lists what they consider to be the best of the best when it comes to various adult entertainment hubs. I was surprised to see a place look so similar to my own website, especially since I initially came up with the idea of Mr. Porn Geek completely independently – funny how that happens, eh? Anyhow, at the top of the site, you’ll see that TBLOP has allegedly been in the business for over a decade and first began back around 2008. According to the info text, TBLOP believes that 98% of porn sites suck, which is why they’re showing you the other 2%.

I’d say that on the whole, the design here isn’t exactly modern or attractive: I wouldn’t be surprised if they haven’t updated their theme in the last 10 years they’ve been online, which means that it’s falling a little bit behind places such as Mr. Porn Geek’s review platform. The good news is that you can connect to this site with HTTPS though, so anyone monitoring your network won’t be able to see what it is you’re looking at. I find it all too common that websites from days gone by have somewhat limited support for encrypted connections – glad to see that TBLOP has kept with the times.

Looking at the lists on TBLOP

Okay, so the ratings of adult websites here are broken down into a variety of sub sections with a specific focus on various niches. The first category you’ll come across is the live sex stream websites, where destinations like Chaturbate, Jasmin and MFC are displayed. There are lots of sites listed here, although you’ll have to hover over the box in order to scroll down. The bar doesn’t appear automatically next to the ratings section, so it’s not immediately obvious that TBLOP has several suggestions that you can look at. One nice feature is that they sometimes give you bonus information on a website that you access, such as if you need an account to access it or whether the place has alternative names. This is something that Mr. Porn Geek isn’t currently doing, but maybe I’ll think about adding it if I get enough requests to do so!

Reading TBLOP’s reviews

Okay, so we’ve looked at the homepage: how about we chow down on some actual reviews to see whether or not the person behind this operation has any idea what they’re talking about? Well here comes the biggest issue I have with this platform – you can’t actually read any reviews. Turns out that TBLOP doesn’t write up reviews for destinations: it just gives them a rating compared to other destinations and that’s that! I mean really: the only page you get to access here on TBLOP is the homepage – there’s nowhere else to go! I’m not convinced that this is a good setup and to be honest, I’d really like to see the TBLOP team go ahead and write some actual reviews: it would make the user experience a hell of a lot better. Mr. Porn Geek understands that the biggest selling factor is his ability to not only tell you that a site’s good – but why it’s good! I mean take TBLOP for instance: in reading this review, you now know that their website isn’t good if you’re someone that wants the full low-down on a porn website before you go and visit. Slightly disappointed to be honest, but yeah – I guess that’s just how the cookie crumbles.

What are the ratings like on TBLOP?

Okay, so let’s talk about the ratings – I’m generally harsh when it comes to other people rating websites, so yeah: what’s going on with the recommendations at TBLOP? For a start, the ‘Porn Tumblr’ category needs to be completely removed: Tumblr’s recent crackdown on adult entertainment makes it pretty much useless for anyone trying to bust a nut. They do have good Reddit coverage though, so if you’re looking for the best places to go for that platform for smut, this might be worth checking out. I’ve actually got to work on Mr. Porn Geek’s own list of the best subreddits – it’s something I’ve been meaning to get around to but just haven’t found the time for!

My final opinion on TBLOP

If Mr. Porn Geek didn’t exist then you might think that TBLOP.com is a good website to go to in order to get porn recommendations. The problem here is the fact that what you have here is better in every way to TBLOP – more sites reviewed, a regular update schedule and full-length written information on various destinations. I’m not saying that TBLOP sucks, I just don’t think it’s as good as Mr. Porn Geek. Make of that what you will – maybe I’m just tooting my own horn and this place rocks. Anyway, I’m done chatting here guys – thanks for reading and be sure to drop by again whenever you need more recommendations on websites to go to in order to get access to great porn!
